Japanese Montessori School policy
1. Monthly tuition should be paid by the 5th of each month.
2. Registration fee and monthly tuition are non-refundable.
3. In case of natural weather hazards, the Japanese Montessori School follows the Issaquah School District closure decisions. If the Issaquah School District makes a decision to close the school or will be more than 1 hour late, the Japanese Montessori School will be closed. During this time of closure, there is no refund or make up time.
4. The monthly tuition should be paid even though a student is away on holiday or ill.
5. A one month notice is required if you chose to leave the school. Otherwise, tuition for the following month will be charged.
6. The School starts the week after Labor Day and ends in the middle of June.
7. The School opens at exactly 9:30 a.m. Please wait until the door is opened. Do not ring the door bell or knock. Please do not be late.
8. The School circle time starts at 9:45. If your child is late for the circle time, please enter quietly and help your child wash their hands and make your child join the circle then leave the classroom quietly. During this circle time, students are learning many things.
9. The School dismissal time is 12:00pm. Please arrive early enough to greet your child when the door opens exactly at 12:00pm. A $1 fee will be charged for every 1 minute of tardiness. At the end of each month, invoices will be issued. This late fee is donated to charity. You and your child can also donate at any time if you want.
10. The Children are only dismissed to the people whose name is on the dismissal agreement form. If someone will pick up your child and the teacher has never met him/her, fill in a dismissal permission form before the day. If the teacher has not previously met him/her on the day of the pickup, the person who is picking up the child shall provide a copy of their driver’s license. The teacher will then contact the child’s parents or guardian to confirm dismissal to that person.
11. If the child is not well enough to go out, please don’t come to the school. If the child is exhausted or not well enough to stay in the classroom, the teacher will call the parents for prompt pick up.
12. The School can’t administer any medicine, including over the counter medicine and sun lotion.
13. If the student is aggressive to other students, shows violent behavior, and/or insults and discriminates to others, the teacher will explain that is not appropriate behavior. If the student don’t listen and learn, then they will be given a time out.
14. If the student can't follow the class rules, the teacher can't discipline the student, or they give other students a bad influence, the student should immediately go home. The Parents will be called for immediate pick up. Children should learn the consequences and take responsibility for their own action. If he/her behavior continues, a possible one week suspension may be imposed.
15. If the student has a bad tantrum, screams and cries heavily, or disturbs the classroom in an uncontrollable way, the student should go home.
16. The Schools teaching is contradictory to violent acts, fantasy or not. We support total non-violence at all times.
17. The School is against any kind of weapon. Students are not allowed to bring these toys, or pretend using them.
18. The School is a non-smoking environment. Avoid smoking when you come to the school.
19. The School does not teach traditional male/female roles. We teach how to be a good citizen and a good human being.
20. The School has a right to expel a student if his/her parents cause a physical or mental damage to the school or to the student.
21. The School has a duty to report to CPS if child abuse or neglect is suspected or reported by the student.
22. The child shall stay at home if they have symptoms of fatigue, fever, heavy cough, yellow or green nose draining, red eyes, diarrhea, or vomiting. This avoids passing illness on to the other students.
23. If the student is not well enough to stay in the classroom or outside, the teacher will call the parent for prompt pick up.
24. The School takes student photos, these photos may be used on the website or flyer. If you don’t want your child’s photos taken, please let the school know.
25. Let the school know if your child has allergies.
26. During the school hours, the teacher is not able to answer the phone. I this case, please leave a telephone message.
27. Must be completely potty trained. If the student has an accident, the teacher cannot change the underwear but can direct the child to change by himself/herself. If the child can't change it by himself/herself, the teacher will call the parent and have them come and change the child's clothing.
28. If more than 2 accidents occur in a short time frame, the child is not considered fully potty trained. The child should stay at home until he/she is ready. During these times, the tuition fee should still be paid, or with a one month notice, the child may leave the school and come back when ready.
